ALBANY – Anthony Giunta, 85, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.
Anthony was born on June 28, 1921 in Messina, Italy and was the son of the late Angelo and Fortunata Giunta. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. He owned The Beaver's in Albany for many years before retiring in 1977. He enjoyed gambling, the outdoors and was fond of animals.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 19 years, Dolores P. Giunta; his children, Anthony R. (Susan) Giunta of Green Island; Flo Giunta of Green Island, Eileen (Timothy) Holohan of Clifton Park, Angelo R. (Patrick Rhodes) Giunta of Cohoes and Jane (Timothy) Young of Colonie; his sister, Mary D'Alessandro and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Giunta, both of Latham; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jane Giunta and his brother, Carmen Giunta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Church, Latham. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. Calling hours will be held at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
