SCHENECTADY – Anthony J. LaRue, Jr., 68, of Schenectady, passed away on Sunday September 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born and educated in Albany and was the son of the late Ruth Hicks LaRue.
Tony was a proud US Army veteran having served on the front line during the Vietnam War. As a patient in the 3rd Field Hospital in Saigon, he was personally awarded the Combat Infantry Badge by General William Westmoreland who stated "keep up the good work soldier". Tony was a member of VFW Post 357 and the Disabled American Veterans. He worked as a mechanic for 20 years at Watkins Spring Company in Albany.
Tony is the beloved husband of 46 years to Mary C. Stott LaRue. He is the devoted father of Anthony (Kelly), Jason (Sonya), Chris (Alisa) LaRue and the late Mark C. LaRue. He is the brother of James LaRue. Tony is the cherished grandfather of Justin, Brandon, Cassandra, Miranda, Cuyler and Brennan LaRue.
Tony's family wishes to thank Dr. Mary Panzetta for many years of comfort and care. Special thanks to Tony's longtime best friend, Rick Batcher.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10:30 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Saratoga National VA Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 78517, Topeka, KS 66675 in memory of Anthony J. LaRue Jr.
