COLONIE – Anthony J. Ranalli, 94, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 14, 2013 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home.
He was born in Colonie and was the son of the late James and Donato Ranalli. Tony was a 1936 graduate of Roesselville High School. Along with his twin brother Daniel, he served in the US Army during WWII. Tony was employed as a produce manager with the A& P for 44 years. He later worked as a monitor with the South Colonie Schools. An avid musician and clarinet player, Tony was a longtime member of the American Legion Yankee Doodle Band and the Colonie Senior Orchestra. He was a Past Post Commander of the former VFW Post #1161.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen Parkinson Ranalli. He is the devoted father of John (Marie) Ranalli, Anthony J. (Lisa) Ranalli and Michael (Margie) Ranalli. He is the twin brother of Daniel Ranalli. Tony is the cherished grandfather of Anna Mei, Michael, Alaina and Andrew Ranalli. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his brothers Sebastian, John, Joseph and Frank.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday morning at 9:00 at St. Clare's Church. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
