Colonie- Anthony J. Cataldo, III passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 19, 2016 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany. He was 69 years old. The son of the late Anthony J. and Mary (DiRubbo) Cataldo, Jr., Tony was born on February 6, 1947 in Albany, NY. He attended Cardinal McCloskey High School and graduated in 1966. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Fake in 1967 in Albany. Tony served his country honorably and faithfully during the Vietnam War in the US Army. After his honorable discharge from the service he went on to work for CSX Railroad until his retirement in 2010.
Tony loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. Tony was a true family man, always putting those he loved first. He adored his only granddaughter, Sara and had a close relationship with his friends: Pat Sharer, Frank Nolan, Bill Ertel and his Army buddies: Henry Ouderkirk and Tom Lutz. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Tony is survived by his wife of 49 years Marilyn; his daughters: Lisa (Jeffrey, Sr.) Ward and Christina Cataldo; his loving granddaughter Sara Ward; his grandsons Cpl. Caleb (Karley Murray) Ward (USMC) and Jeffrey Ward, Jr.; his brother Michael Cataldo; his sister-in-law Pat (Charles) Hoffmeister; his nieces: Kerry (Brian) Rubin, Danielle Rapp and Theresa Kramer; several cousins and friends and his grandpuppies: Toga, Wilber, Albert, Fat Pat, Lucy, and Bitsy.
Tony's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff of the Stratton VA Medical Center and NYOH group at Albany Medical Center for their compassionate and loving care of Tony.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, March 25 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A memorial mass will be held at 10am on Tuesday, March 29 at Christ our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Albany,12211. Burial will follow with military honors at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
