TROY-
Anthony "Tony" Mancinelli, 86, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Troy to the late Anthony and Nancy (Colarusso) Mancinelli.
Tony attended St. Peter's Parochial School and LaSalle High School. As a boy, he helped in his father's restaurant, "Mancinelli's". He and his brother later took over running the family business. Tony served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a barber, a restaurateur, and a mailman with the Watervliet Post Office. Tony traveled to Europe, Mexico, Florida, and the Caribbean. He enjoyed old movies, football, reading the newspaper, and meeting with his "coffee club" buddies.
Tony met his former wife, Mary Ann Pezzula on a double date with his cousin. Together they raised three daughters and a son: Nancy (Edward) Doherty, Joanne (Michael) Carroll, Mary Ellen (Michael) Reo, and Christopher (Colleen) Mancinelli. Tony has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition, Tony is survived by his brother, Joseph (Joan) Mancinelli, two nephews, many cousins and friends.
Tony was predeceased by Lois A. Nelligan, his partner of 32 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 347 Old Loudon Rd, Latham, NY 12110. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 301 Hackett Blvd, Albany, NY 12208 or Community Hospice Foundation, 310 S. Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208.
