CLIFTON PARK – Anthony Mijares 65, of Clifton Park, passed away during the morning of Tuesday, June 9, 2009.
Anthony was born on January 17, 1944 in Denver, CO and was the son of the late Martin and Josephine Mijares. He was a graduate of Middlebury College (Class of 1966) and Albany Law School (Class of 1973). Between college and law school, Mr. Mijares served in the United States Army. After law school, Mr. Mijares began a career with the State of New York, beginning with the Office of the Attorney General, then spending several years with the Office of General Services and returning to the Attorney General's Real Property Bureau, from which he retired in 2005.
Anthony is survived by his step-mother, Manuela "Nellie" Mijares of Denver, CO; his former wife and friend, Judith Pollard Mijares of Little Falls; his partner, John J. Diehsner of Clifton Park; his sisters, Juanita Dawson, Consuelo Marquez and Michelle Feller; his brothers, Philbert Mijares, David Vigil and Robert Garcia; nieces and nephews, among whom are Mary Lee Pollard of Milton, Heather Parker of West Charlton and Gordon Pollard of Duanesburg; Jennifer and Rachel Dawson, Julie and Jacob Marquez all of Denver, CO, Lisa F. Shriver of Sacramento, Calif. and Nicole F. Ross of San Diego, Calif. and several cousins; as well as many other friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Margo Mijares. He will be forever missed by his beloved dogs, Lucy, Rosie, Willie and Daisy.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
