Anthony (Tony) Zammiello, formerly of Utica, NY, passed away on July 20, 2017 at St. Peters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany, NY. He was 93 years old.
Anthony was the son of the late Pasquale and Rose Zammiello. He was the devoted husband of the late Angeline H. Zammiello (Tata). They were married for 68 years.
He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II and often reflected on that memorial experience.
He was a carpenter by trade and pursued this career until he retired in 1985 from the Utica School System. He was always wiling to teach others and passed this skill down to many in his family.
He attended the Assembly of God church in Utica where he was active in ministry and church leadership. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Donna (Ron) Johnson and Elisa (Bill) Minchin; grandchildren Steven Minchin, Renee (Jason) Gagnon, David (Carey) Johnson, and Jonathan Johnson; his great grandchildren Anthony Gagnon, Lydia Gagnon, Nathan Gagnon, Zachary Gagnon, Bridget Johnson, and Cole Johnson.
Tony will be remembered most for his love for his family, his devotion to God, his kind and gentle demeanor, his willingness to sacrifice for the good of others, and his dry and offen sarcastic wit.
A private memorial service with military honors will be held for the family on August 4 at 11:00am at Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the caregivers at St. Peters for the way they embraced and cared for Tony with a genuine personal touch during the last three years of his life.
