Antonia Raponi, 95, passed away peacefully into the arms of God, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Born February 7, 1927 in Carpineto Romano, Italy she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Angela Cavone. Antonia is predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years Orlando, cherished son, Angelo and siblings, Guido, Quirino, Joseph, Mafalda, Maria Francesa and Elfrida (who passed at an early age).
On February 15, 1947, she married Orlando Raponi in Italy. After starting their family, Orlando and Antonia relocated to Australia and later to the US. She worked for New York State at the time of her retirement. Antonia was a devout Catholic and communicate of Christ the King Church. She was a strong and stubborn woman who fought hard in life. She opened her home to all, telling stories, providing wisdom and advice, teaching life lessons and no one could possibly ever leave hungry, "MANGIA!" She was known to occasionally try her luck at the casino and especially loved spending time with her feline companions, Mike and Jack.
Antonia is survived by her children, Luciana (Clarence) Hubicki and Peter (Christina) Raponi and daughter-in-law, Regina Raponi. She will be missed by her beloved grandchildren Christopher (Sara) Raponi, Angela (Robert) Fink, Richard (Jessica) Hubicki, Timothy (Andrea) Raponi, Theresa (Dustin) Lewis, Kristina (Christopher) Murray, Diana (Stephen) Rock, Peter Raponi and Rachel (Lucas) DeFelice and 11 great-grandchildren, Giovanna, Karena, Viviana, Isabelle, Maya, Justin, Maximus, Zachary, Alexander, Benjamin, and Connor. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Maria Cavone as well as several nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Donna.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Newcomer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am in Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave, Albany, NY 12203. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12205.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Christ the King Church.
