ALBANY – Antonino (Nino) Bongiorno, 80, of Albany passed away on Wednesday, 3/16/16, after a brief illness. Antonino was born in Antillo, Sicily. He was the son of the late Domenico and Maria Bongiorno.
Antonino served for two years in the Italian Army prior to arriving in America. Antonino worked construction for many years and was a member of Local 190. He also worked for Freihofer Baking Company retiring after 20 years of service.
Antonino is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Teresa (LoGiudice) Bongiorno of Albany. He was the loving father of Debra Bongiorno and Nancy (John) Flanagan both of Albany. He was the adored grandfather of Nina Terese, Danielle Jaye and Jared Bongiorno Smith. Antonino leaves behind his sisters Iolanda (Mario) Lioce of Rochester, NY, and Silvana Pacelli of Italy. He also leaves his brother, Joseph (Kathy) Bongiorno of Livonia, NY. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Antonino was also predeceased by his beloved nephew, Antonio Bongiorno of Webster, NY and his brother-in-law, Carlo Pacelli of Italy.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, 3/19 from 9:30am-12:30pm with the funeral following immediately after. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Saturday, 3/19 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Interment will be a Memory Gardens, Colonie.
