ALBANY – April I. Geddies (Georgianna Geddies), 70, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Albany Medical Center Hospital with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.
Born in Albany, April was the daughter of the late Ezell H. and Ida Van Deusen Geddies. She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, long drives and oldies music and volunteered at St. Peter's Hospital and First Church in Albany where she was a member of the Weather Vanes. She worked for Myers Department Store and for New York Telephone as a switchboard operator.
Known for her bright smile and generosity, joy in her grandchildren and her trust in Jesus, she will be greatly missed by all. Her ship finally came in.
April is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Zackery and Susan Geddies of Albany; her cherished grandsons, Zackery Jr. and Luke William Geddies; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Williams Smith and Ruth Blackmore.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday evening at 6:00 at the First Church in Albany, 110 North Pearl Street, Albany. A calling hour will precede the service from 5 to 6 p.m. at the church. To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.NewcomerFamily.com
