COLONIE – Archie Keyishian, 90, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, at Ellis Hospital. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Louis and Florence Keyishian. He was a resident of Colonie for most of his life. Archie served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 3rd Battalion, 128th Infantry in New Guinea. He owned and operated Archie's Bake Shop in Colonie for over twenty-five years with his wife Christine. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #8692 where he was past Commander and Quartermaster where he spent many years cooking and playing cards with his friends. Archie is the beloved husband of nearly sixty-four years to Christine Keyishian. He is the devoted father of Michael Keyishian and Rose Marie (the late Robert) Warman. Archie is the loving brother of Harry (Alice) Keyishian and the cherished grandfather of Jonathan Warman. He is survived by his niece, Diane (Bruce) Barnett and their children, Christopher and Alissa and his nephew, David Keyishian. Also surviving is his beloved friend and neighbor, Bill Marquart who was always there to help and Anne Brown who helped as well. The family would like to thank Dr. Laurence Weiner for the many years he cared for Archie and to the Ellis Hospital staff of ICU and A-wing 5th floor for the excellent care they gave to Archie during his stay.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post #8692, 140 VFW Drive, Colonie, NY 12205 in memory of Archie Keyishian.
