WATERVLIET – Archie Lee Johnson, 62, was called home on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. There, he joins his parents, sister-in-law, Ann Crawley and mother-in-law, Martha Anderson. He leaves behind to mourn him, his loving wife, Marian Johnson; six daughters, Tammy Harris, Aaliyah Delany, Shakima Brown, Cherain Smith, Tamika McQueen, and Tanya Smith; two brothers, Cecil West and Willie Johnson; one sister, Mary Pelham; four sisters-in-law, Mildred West, Anita Johnson, Angela Robertson, and Rosemary Vasconcellos; one brother-in-law, Gene Crawley; fourteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Archie was born on May 26, 1947 in Clayton, Alabama to the late Archie and Arentha Johnson. He attended South High School and after graduating, became employed by Roofers Sheet Metal. After working there for 16 years, he retired and relocated to New York. He joined Bank of America where he has been employed since 1994. There, is where he met his beloved wife, Marian (Smith) Johnson and later married her on July 15, 2006. In his younger years, Archie sang in a group, where he continued to sing at church, home and at work.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A calling hour will precede the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
