COLONIE – Arlene Anderson, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2012 with her family by her side. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Gladys (Galusha) Shellenberger. Arlene was an Albany High School graduate. She went on to work for Boyd Printing Company and then managed Northeast Field Facts. Arlene retired after twenty years of service in 2002 from New York State Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and travelling. Arlene especially loved working in her garden. She loved flowers and going to the Tulip Festival every year. Arlene's favorite time of the year was Christmas and she enjoyed hosting her annual Christmas Eve party for friends and family. Arlene was a strong woman who touched everyone she met. She loved her family and friends dearly.
Arlene is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Alan "Ace" Anderson. She was a devoted mother to Alan A. (Theresa) Anderson, Jr. of Colonie, Kimberly (Ralph Sullivan) Anderson of CA, Leah B. (Brian) Kolota of FL and Amy L. (Joseph) Malorgio of Red Hook. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, Brianna and Tyler Kolota and Sophia and Samantha Malorgio. Arlene is the sister of James F. (Eileen) Shellenberger, Jr. of Colonie. She is the cherished aunt of James F. Shellenberger, III, Terry Shellenberger, Jeffrey Shellenberger and Mindy Leka. The Anderson family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's for the kindness shown to our family during Arlene's stay.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
