Arlene Grace Hurst

Arlene Grace Hurst,75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Arlene was born in Buffalo New York to the late Edward and Dorothy (Lathrop) Underhill. Arlene graduated from East Aurora High School and later would retire after 30 years with Sears Department Stores in Colonie. Arlene enjoyed gardening, crafts and being with her family. She loved spending her winters in Florida with her husband. In addition to her parents, Arlene was predeceased by her husband of over 57 years, John L. Hurst, Jr.; her son, David Hurst; her sister, Betty Closs and her brother, Gerald Underhill.
Arlene is survived by her cherished children, Kim Brown, Jack (Kathy) Hurst, Julie (John) Van Heusen and Jennifer (Jeremy) Dow. She is the beloved grandmother of, Eric, Christopher, Justin, Jeremy, Joshua, Matthew, Katelyn, Amy, Jake, Jesse, Haley and Sarah. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; she is the sister of, Evelyn Tillman and Doris Holmes and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Weissman and the Schenectady County Hospice team for all of their care and compassion shown to Arlene.
