COLONIE - Arlene Dorothy Short Vennard passed away on July 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Arlene was born on June 26, 1926 in Troy, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Gertrude Szelwian and Jack Short and her sister, Jackie Short. She was also predeceased by Charley Vennard, her loving husband of 54 years.
Arlene remembered well her deceased loving mother and father-in-law, Barbara and Charley Vennard, her in-laws, Bobby and Lucy Vennard, Sister Mary Barbara, Marilyn and Mike Sasso, Jack Vennard, Jack Bond, Bing Crosby and Patricia and Joe Trapasso as well as her beloved Aunt Connie and Uncle Lloyd Atkinson.
Survivors include her 4 children, Charlie (Barbara), Janice (Bill), Carol, and Dan (Mary). Arlene loved her 10 grandchildren, Chris Vennard (Valarie), Brian Vennard (Amanda), Jeff Vennard, Brad Healey, Tyler Healey, Jason Cornell (Tracy), Kaitlyn Barrett (Trace), Elizabeth Barnes (Josh), Cara Vennard, Kyle Vennard and her step grandchildren, Melissa Renkawitz (Rich) and Erik Schlegel. Arlene experienced much love from her 13 great grandchildren as well as her surviving in-laws, Eileen Bond, Barbara Crosby, Gerald Vennard (Barbara), numerous nieces and nephews and good friend, Tillie Tetrault.
Arlene enjoyed traveling with her husband especially Caribbean cruises. She loved family dinners, visiting around the holidays and shopping. Arlene was a volunteer at St. Peter's Hospital for 12 years. Her passion during her life was anything "medical". She prayed daily for those past and present.
Arlene will be remembered in Mass at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Albany, NY 12211 (Loudonville) on Friday, July 23 at 10 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Memory Gardens next to her husband in the Garden of Carillon.
