ALBANY - Armando J. Barrantes, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2009, at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Puerto Rico, Armando lived in New York City from 1923 until he moved to Guilderland in 1995. In 1980, he retired from the New York City Transit Authority. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII as a surgical technician and soldier.
Armando is predeceased by his devoted wife, Marie, and his beloved son, Richard.
Armando will be greatly missed by his surviving family members, daughters, Barbara and Nancy Barrantes; son, Anthony Barrantes; daughter in-law, Audrey Barrantes; grandchildren, Christopher and Carol Barrantes, Nigel Barrantes, and Rachael Barrantes, 6 great-grandchildren, and Daisy Guidetti.
Armando was also "Grandpa Armando" to many in his extended family, and he enjoyed the company of his pals at OTB.
A memorial mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Westmere on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 10AM. All are invited to come and celebrate his life with his family.
