COLONIE – Armen Halburian, 86, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Armen was born on October 19, 1924 in Albany and was the son of the late Harry and Lucy Halburian. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and received an arts scholarship to Pratt University in Brooklyn. He first attended Union College in Schenectady before completing his bachelor's degree at Pratt. He was a commercial artist for SUNY Albany for over 20 years before retiring in 1987.
Armen attended Loudonville Community Church and was a former member of Lisha Kill Reformed Church where he had been a member of the consistory and a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed traveling, loved to watch sports on TV, but most especially attending the So. Colonie High School baseball and football games.
Armen is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kay Halburian; his loving sons, Kim A. (Caryl) Halburian of West Palm Beach, FL and Kevin F. (Ann) Halburian of Colonie; his four cherished granddaughters, Alexa, Erika, Caroline and Julia; his brother, James (Dottie) Halburian of Colonie and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Sivaslian and his sister, Helen Gallagher.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
