Arthur E. Beals

Arthur E. Beals, a Schenectady, NY resident for more than 83 years, died on February 1, 2022 at the Pines in Utica, NY. He was 98.


Arthur was born in North Adams, Massachusetts on October 23, 1923. Arthur proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. At the height of the 2nd World War, Arthur Beals did not run and hide. He sacrificially went into the Army to serve and defend our great country! He served in the 879th Engineer Aviation Battalion and was honorably discharged in 1946 at Fort Dix NJ. Arthur dedicated 40 years to General Electric in various jobs but mostly working on the drill press.


Arthur is survived by his daughter, Marlene Day and her husband, Tim; his daughter, Eileen Wood and her husband, John; And was predeceased by his son, Brian Beals and predeceased by Brian's wife, Linda. Arthur was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Joane (Carkner) Beals.


Arthur is survived by his grandchildren, John Wood, Michael Wood, Jeremy Kline, Sarah (Kline) Sobieck, Jason Kline, Danny Croft, Patrick Beals, and Kristy (Beals) Nicholas. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.


Arthur lived a life of resilience through tough times, hard work as a young boy and then continued hard work to provide for his wife and kids. He lived a life of faithful and sacrificial service to his country. He pursued what needed to be done and looked for opportunities to learn with the changing times and keep his job at GE.
