Arthur J. Ferguson

GUILDERLAND- Arthur J. Ferguson, age 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 18, 2024.

He was born in Albany, the son of the late Evaline Cook Ferguson and Charles Ferguson. He was also predeceased by his wife Jane and his brother Charles.

Arthur graduated from Albany High School then joined the Army, serving during WW II as a Radar Operator Technician. After his discharge, he graduated from Champlain College in 1948 with an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and graduated from Hartwick College in 1950 with a Bachelors of Science degree in History.

He retired from the NYS Department of Transportation Soils Division in 1988.

Arthur enjoyed playing cards, darts, curling, church activities and gardening. He was a member of the United Fourth Presbyterian Church in Albany (New Covenant).

He is survived by his children: Mark (Tricia), Steven and Joan Ferguson; grandchildren: Matthew (Jen) and Kasey Meyer (John); one great grandchild Henry Ferguson; brother in law Donald Savage; sister in laws: Charla Cook and Carol Allen. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Saturday October 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend his celebration of life following at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The interment of both Arthur and Jane will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in their memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 33 Elk Street, Albany, NY 12207.
