Rotterdam – Arthur F. "Butch" Howland Jr., 71, died suddenly December 17, 2014. He was the beloved husband of M. Sandra (La Deaux) Howland, whom he married on April 23, 1966. Butch proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. When he returned he was employed by G.E. and later retired from the Watervliet Arsenal as a Lieutenant in the Fire Department. Butch was also a past 2nd Assistant Chief with the Carman Fire Dept.
Born in Rotterdam, Butch is the son of the late Arthur and Verna Howland and brother of the late Erma Wiles.
In addition to his wife, Butch is survived by his children, Mark (Donna) Howland, Arleen M. (Thomas) Corcoran and Shannon D. (Brian) Teater. He is also survived by his grandchildren, who he was lovingly known as "Papoo" too; Anthony, Justin (Leilani), Daniel, Taylor, Eric, Desiree and great grand-daughter Ava.
