Arthur F. Hutson, 88, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Arthur was the son of the late Arthur and Catherine (Carey) Hutson and was the devoted husband to the late Audrey M. (Valenti) Hutson. They were married 60 years until her passing in 2012.
Arthur was a graduate of C.B.A. and attended Albany High. He received his B.A. in education from Niagara University, where he played basketball and baseball. One of his fondest memories was playing in the N.I.T. Basketball tournament in Madison Square Garden for Niagara University. Arthur received his Masters Degree from UAlbany.
Mr. Hutson was a high school teacher and varsity basketball coach with the Guilderland CSD for 30 years until retirement. He was an avid sports fan, who loved participating and coaching sports teams. He played for the Albany Twilight League for 12 years and is in the C.B.A. & Twilight League Hall of Fame. He enjoyed watching Yankee games, going to UAlbany basketball games, hanging out in his vegetable garden and talking about how his vegetables were growing. Arthur had a great sense of humor and warm smile, even in his final years he was a comic that brought joy to everyone.
Arthur was a parishioner of Christ The King Church in Guilderland, where he faithfully served as one of their ushers.
He was also a proud member of the Guilderland ELKS Club.
Arthur enjoyed spending time with his entire family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was the father of: Patricia (Tom) Hornbach, Kathleen Hutson, Teri Hutson and Thomas (Judy) Hutson, cherished grandfather of: Kevin Hornbach, Kirsten (Matthew) Glynn and Celeste Hornbach, and Katherine and Zachary Hutson, and brother of Barbara Novko.
In addition to his parents, and his wife, Arthur was predeceased by a brother, John Hutson.
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 8th at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Avenue, Guilderland, where the Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10 a.m.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 7th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. The parish family of Christ the King will gather at 4:30 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome.
Interment will follow the mass in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Christ the King Church, Attention: Music Ministries, 20 Sumpter Ave., Albany, NY 12203 in memory of Audrey & Arthur Hutson, or to Daughters of Sarah Recreational Department.
