GLENMONT, NY – Arthur J. Anderson, Sr., 84, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009. He was born in Albany and raised in Colonie. Mr. Anderson was a U.S. Navy veteran, Seaman 2nd Class, serving his country during World War II. Art was a self-employed contractor and a talented musician. He performed with his brothers, Don and Chuck in Melody Mountain Boys, The Anderson Family, which cut an album in Nashville, TN and Art Anderson in the Rawhides. Music was his life. Art was the NECMA Pioneer Award winner in 1992. Some of his other pastimes were camping, horseshoes and playing pool. Art is the beloved husband of 63 years to Marion Landers Anderson. He is the devoted father of Wayne (Joey) Anderson, Judy (Jim) Healey, Susan (Terry) Rodd, Catherine Anderson and Arthur (Kim) Anderson, Jr. He is the loving brother of Joyce (Bill) Meeks, Robert (Mary) Anderson and the late Charles,Donald, Bill and Richard Anderson, Mary Jane Kipp and Bill Kent. Also surviving are 17 cherished grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Art's family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 4th floor at St. Peter's Hospital for the excellent care given to him during his brief stay.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
