Arthur J. Sgambelluri, Sr.

COLONIE – Arthur J. Sgambelluri Sr., 80, of Colonie, passed away on Thursday March 5, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Michael and Pauline Leone Sgambelluri.
Art operated Sgambelluri Brother's Contracting with his brothers Michael and Anthony for many years. The brothers also operated the popular Paramount Lounge along with their sister Tess, in Schenectady for 30 years. Art was an accomplished bowler and was inducted into the Schenectady Bowling Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and a member of the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Jean Salerno Sgambelluri; his sons, Arthur Sgambelluri Jr. of Charleston, SC. and Mark ( Mary) Sgambelluri of Colonie. He is the brother of Teresa Bonnani, Rosemary VanAlstyne, Francis (Anne) Sgambelluri, Michael (Yvonne) Sgambelluri, Tony (Grace) Sgambelluri and the late Joseph Sgambelluri. He is the cherished grandfather of James, Justin, Joel, Nicholas, Matthew and Marissa Sgambelluri. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 9:00 at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
