Colonie- Assunta Di Stasio, 94, went home to glory with God on Monday, November 16, 2015.
Assunta was born on November 18, 1920 in Camigliano, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Teresa Tuoro. She was the wife of the late Antonio Di Stasio. Together with their children they moved to Ft. Plain, NY in the late 1960's. In their retirement they returned to Italy in 1975 where she stayed until her husband's death in 1987.
Assunta was a caring homemaker for her husband and children. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, knitting and her Italian cooking, especially her homemade pasta and sausage. She was a great hostess for all of the family gatherings and in her later years was a good supervisor for her daughter who took on that role. One of her greatest joys was in helping to raise her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Assunta is predeceased by her loving husband of over 30 years, Antonio Di Stasio, her grandson, Anthony Di Stasio, her son-in-law, Nicola Spiezio, her siblings; Giovanni Tuoro, Simeone Tuoro, Luca Tuoro, Carmela Pennachio, Maria Capanna, Graziella Manzo, and Giuseppina Feola.
She is survived by her children; Nicolina Spiezio, Giovanni (Patti) Di Stasio, her grandchildren; Luigi (Chrissy), Anthony (Christina), John, Suzanne (Jesse), Nicholas, and Graceanne, and her great-grandson, Nicholas, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends in the US and Italy.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 4:00pm- 7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 122 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes, NY 12047 at 9:00am.
