Barbara A. Ketz

GUILDERLAND, NY – Barbara A. (Meister) Ketz, 57, passed away at her home, unexpectedly on Thursday, January 14, 2010. Born in Albany, she is the loving daughter of Emil J. Meister, Jr. and the late Mary (Keyser) Meister. Barbara has resided in Guilderland for twenty-seven years. She graduated with a Master's Degree in education from the College of St. Rose. Barbara was a teacher at the Academy of Holy Names, and more recently at St. Madeleine Sophie School. She was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Church where she also taught religious education. Barbara enjoyed camping, playing cards, and especially spending time with friends and attending family gatherings. In addition to her father, Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 30 years, Nicholas L. Ketz. She is the devoted mother of Jennifer Ketz of Colonie and Matthew Ketz of Guilderland. Barbara is the cherished sister of Emil J. (Peggy) Meister, III of Hudson, Mary Ellen (Paul) Bickel of Colonie and Theresa (Eric) Preston and Paul (Patti) Meister, all of East Greenbush. Barbara is also survived by her godparents, Albert and Margaret Meister of Loudonville as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Barbara will also be missed by her faithful canine companion, Tino and the late Roxy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St.Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 or the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Barbara A. Ketz.
