SELKIRK, NY – Barbara Ann Blanchard, 52, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Albany on October 26, 1958 to Shirley Ruth (Johnson) Blanchard and the late John Henry Blanchard. Survivors include her daughter, Kanika (Clemor III) McKnight and her son, Jorden Gillespie; seven sisters, Earline Leigh, Josephine, Shirley, Sheila, Tracy and Lanell Blanchard all of Albany, Judy (Victor) Smith of Schenectady; seven brothers, Robert Lee, Charles, Johnny, Wayne, Randy and Doc Matthew Blanchard all of Albany and Fields (Kim) Blanchard of Schenectad;grandchildren, Raqua, Clemente and Aza Marie McKnight and her special cousin, Marlo Davis. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives and her special friend, Richard Moorman. Barbara was employed with the State of New York for more than twenty-seven years as an executive assistant. She was a loving and devoted mother whose hobbies included golf and shopping. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a very beautiful young woman who will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 11:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
