COLONIE – Barbara Ann Dabney, 62, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara Ann was born on August 25, 1949 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Albert and Annie Willingham Dabney.
Barbara Ann worked for Verizon as a maintenance loop technician for over 34 years before retiring in 2010. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, traveling and fine dining. She was a member of the Mount Olive Southern Missionary Baptist Church.
Barbara Ann is survived by her loving fiancé of 25 years, Howard Whittingham of Colonie; her loving daughters, Lavonia B. (Andres) Astacio of Cohoes and Marshey Guthrie of Atlanta, GA; her cherished granddaughter, Isharah "Pumpkin" Knox; her brothers, James Pauline of Schenectady and Walter Dabney of Albany and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Roosevelt Pauline and her sister, Emily L. Dabney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Southern Missionary Baptist Church, 236 N. Pearl St., Albany. Calling hours will precede the service from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will follow the service at Graceland Cemetery in Albany.
