COLONIE- Barbara J. (Bevan) Davison, born on November 9, 1938, and who graced this world for 84 years, passed away after a short illness on October 10, 2023. Born in Albany, NY, to Lawrence and Helen (Maslak) Bevan, she leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service that will forever be admired by those who knew her.
Barbara was a remarkable woman whose life was marked by selflessness and service. A graduate of Albany Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, she began her journey of service as an officer in the Navy (nurse) in 1960. This was a pivotal role that spanned nearly a decade and was characterized by her unwavering commitment to caring for others during their times of need. Her dedication to her duties touched the lives of countless service members, dignitaries, and presidents. She continued in her career to culminate in her doctorate in Hypnotherapy. She was an expert at Hypnobirthing and brought many babies into the world using this technique. Following her honorable service in the Navy, Barbara continued to touch lives as a registered nurse for over half a century. She worked for over a decade at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albany, NY, and retired from Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. When she was not at the hospital she was working in private practice. When not working she enjoyed gardening and being a part of her nursing and hypnotherapy communities.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love through her three children and four grandchildren: Lee Davison and his children with Erin Davison, Liam Davison and Connor Davison; her daughter Sabrina (Davison) Seeger and son-in-law Michael Seeger, their children Maclyn Seeger and Kendal Seeger. She is also survived by her son Lawrence Davison and sister Patricia (Bevan) Fitzsimmons and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Helen (Maslak) Bevan and her sister Jacqueline (Bevan) Nicpon.
Barbara's life was one of quiet strength and unwavering service to her country and fellow human beings. She leaves a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who remember her for her dedication and service.
Calling hours will be at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., October 28, 2023, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A brief mass will follow the calling hours from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Interment will be on October 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Gerald B H Solomon National Cemetery, Saratoga, NY.
