Barbara A. Courtwright

Barbara A. Courtwright, 73, of Albany, NY, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024. Born on March 23, 1951, Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched many lives.

Barbara's early education took place within the Albany City School District, and she later earned her high school diploma from the Adult Learning Center at Hudson Valley. Her commitment to helping others led her to Mildren Elley, where she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant Certification. Barbara dedicated her career to the care of others, working as a home health aide and at Albany Medical Center before providing compassionate private duty assistance to homebound seniors.

She is now reunited with her loving mother Dorothy Williams, her father Ralph Courtwright, her siblings Dorothy Paul, Warren Smith, Ronald Courtwright, and sister-in-law Ava Courtwright, Honey Izard, as well as her cherished daughter Sherry Martia.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Honey Courtwright; her granddaughter Myeisha Courtwright-Parson; her great-granddaughter Adreyanna Rouse; her sister Rosa Howard; and her devoted significant other Rocky Caldwell. She will also be remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Barbara will always be remembered for her deep love of chocolate, cake, ice cream, and Pepsi, and her unwavering love for her family and spirit. Her legacy of compassion and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Services to honor Barbara's life will be held at New Comer Funeral Home on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the service following immediately thereafter.
