Barbara Ann Dickson-Abdelrahman

SCHENECTADY-Barbara Ann Dickson-Abdelrahman passed away on November 26, 2016 in Long Island, NY.
Barbara affectionately known as "Babs" or "Kitty" grew up in Schenectady. She graduated from Mont Pleasant H.S. class of 1980.

Kitty loved life and meeting new people. She was a blessing and a friend to so many. She'd give the shirt off her back or open her home to help another. You could always count on an invite for a hot meal, game of spades and lots of laughs.

Her giving spirit and love of socializing carried over to her work as a Patient Care Specialist and Medical Specialist in the Army Reserves from 1980-1986. She was certified Home Health Care Aide. She worked at the Lawrence center for a number of years as well as working with people with spinal cord injuries. Her patients loved her. She dabbled in food service because she loved cooking and she enjoyed her most recent job as a cab driver in Long Island.

Her hobbies included playing pool, traveling, playing cards; especially spades, pitty pat and Casino and of course laughing, talking and spending time with friends and family.

She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, smile, and all that she gave to others. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever and in the spirit of her children.

She is survived by her boyfriend, Len Thompson; siblings, Mary (Charles) Miller, Charles Lee Currie, Clarence Terry, Jr.; children, Jovonna Perryman, Simone Dickson, Arielle Wilson; grandchildren, Tre'jon Faircloth, Amaziah Edwards, Jorian Gardet, Rahsaan Niles, Jr., Kohanna Dickson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Mary and Robert Dickson; her parents, Janet Bell Dickson, Clarence M. Terry and Mr. and Mrs. James Mckiever.
Home going services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:00am at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
