GUILDERLAND- Barbara H. Gearhardt, 85, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018.
Barbara was born in Troy, NY, to the late Frederick and Evelyn Green on August 13, 1932. Barbara attended Troy Public Schools, and Emma Willard School, in Troy, New York. She also attended the Mildred Elly Secretarial School in Albany, NY.
Barbara was a secretary at the Farnsworth Middle School, Guilderland, NY, and at the Guilderland Central School District offices. She also worked at Young Holidays Travel, Inc. She was an avid rock hound and a member of the Capital District Mineral Club, Inc. Barbara always enjoyed music and singing and added her voice to several area choirs.
Barbara is predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years, George J. Gearhardt, sister Carolyn Green Moazed, and son, Michael J. Gearhardt.
She is survived by her sister Susan Green LaGrande, and children Debra Gearhardt Castell of Saratoga Springs; Janet (Raul) Bastiani of Esperance; Donna Gearhardt (Keith) Healey of Hoboken, NJ; Peter (Isabel) Meyer of Chelmsford, MA; Richard Meyer of Guilderland; and John Gearhardt of Guilderland. Barbara is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on July 7, 2018 from 2:00pm-4:00pm with a service to immediately follow. On Saturday, July 14, 2018 a graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Gardner Earl Memorial Chapel at 11:00am.
