Barbara "Joan" Uhrik , 82, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2013 at her home. She was born on September 22, 1931 to the late Cecil and Olivia Buckler.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward A. Uhrik, her older brother James Buckler and her younger brother Craig Buckler.

Joan was the summer chairman of the Helderburg workshop when it was in the Voorheesville High School and was involved in the Girl scouts, being the neighborhood chairman and an assistant leader. She was politically involved, she worked the polls for many elections, and ran for Town Office in Bethlehem as a Democrat.

After high school she worked for AT&T for the Yellow Pages. She and her husband lived in Tucson, Az, Los Angeles, CA., Chicago, IL and New Jersey before moving to Delmar in 1968. She worked as a legal secretary downtown in Albany, then for Walworth, Harding, Welt & Stockton in Delmar and retired from the New York State Assembly Education Committee.

Joan spent much of her retirement in Floral City, FL with friends and relatives from Massachesetts and Nova Scotia, CA.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne U. Faulkner and her husband Gary. She is the adored grandmother of Maxwell and Emma Faulkner.
