COLONIE- Barbara Labunski, 79, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born in Albany on April 3, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna Labunski.
Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her longtime partner of 56 years, Jeanette Caricari. She loved her pet poodles over the years, Renee, Barbette and currently Pepe and her rescue cat Kitty. She was especially close to her nephew Walter and his family (Alisha, Nathan and Brayden). Walter was like a son to her for many years. Barbara had a great sense of humor, from telling stories of things she had done, to stories of hilarious things that happened to her over the years.
Barbara worked for NYS Department of Motor Vehicles for 41 years where she made many lifelong friendships. Barbara was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Angels, St. Patrick's, Blessed Sacrament and Christ the King Churches. Barbara volunteered for many years at the Soup Kitchen in Albany helping those who were less fortunate. She was always there for any family member that needed help.
Barbara is survived by her partner, Jeanette Caricari; her sisters: Roberta DeGonza and Helen McLeod (Robert); her brothers: Joseph Labunski (Liz), Donald Labunski (Beth), Michael Labunski (Lena) and many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. She was also predeceased by her sisters: Carolyn Milazzo, Joanne Mayo and Geraldine Labunski; brother-in-laws, Frank Milazzo and Raymond DeGonza.
