Barbara M. Karl

LATHAM – Barbara M. Karl, 78, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at home with her family by her side after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Duanesburg, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Edna Tuller.
Barbara worked for the Arthritis Foundation, Lung Association, and was co-owner of Shaker Auto Parts. In her free time, she enjoyed keeping her home and garden creatively beautiful. She also liked golfing and casinos. She was a basketball standout at Nott Terrace H.S. and fiercely independent. Barbara was a very giving person and was considered the matriarch of the family.
Barbara predeceased her first husband of 33 years, Stanley Leonowicz, second husband of 21 years, Wayne Karl; sister Janet Tews, and niece Kathy Andersen.
She is survived by her sister Sandra Tuller, Schenectady; brothers Everett (Doris) Tuller, Rotterdam and Thomas (Linda) Tuller, Latham; nieces and nephews Triston Tuller, Karen (Casey) Baker, Jim Andersen, Eric (Joanne) Andersen, and Chris Andersen.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany. Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY, 12211 in Barbara's memory.
