Barbara M. Reid

ALBANY – Barbara M. Reid, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Andrew Reid.
Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late George J. and Barbara C. Stark Bender. Barbara was the secretary for many years at the Evangelical Protestant Church in Albany and more recently at Farm Family Insurance Company in Glenmont, before retiring in 1985. She was a longtime dedicated volunteer for the Jr. bowling program at Sporthaven Lanes in Delmar. Barbara was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed knitting.
Barbara is the beloved mother of Cheryl (Charles) Mahar, Thomas E. Reid, Linda L. (William) Rademacher, and Dianne C. Meier (Larry Malak). She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to the staff of Community Hospice of Albany and Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for their care and support given to Barbara and her family.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Graceland Cemetery in Albany.
