SCHENECTADY- Barbara Neal, 74, a lifelong Schenectady resident, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Cecelia Samelski.
She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and began working at General Electric for 19 years. Barbara returned to school to earn a business degree at Spencer College. She then worked for several small firms until she began her career at the New York State Assembly, retiring in 2021 after 23 years of service.
Barbara loved animals and nature. She enjoyed camping and being in the outdoors, Bingo, Scrabble and Pinnochle games and a day at the casino.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Neal of Papa'aloa, Hawaii and her son, Richard Neal of Schenectady. She also leaves behind her sister, Cecelia Samelski of Cohoes and her brother, Adam (Rose) Samelski of Brushton, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family may call at the New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205 on Friday February 24, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. All are invited to a time of sharing of memories following at 4 p.m.
