It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara J. Fryer of Hadley, NY. Barby passed away on April 10, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69.
Barby was the devoted wife of Michael (Mickey) Fryer for over 50 beautiful years. She was the loving mother to Heidi Backus (Leif), and Kristy Gamache (Jeff), leaving behind her cherished grandchildren, Emma Gamache, Henry and Lillian Backus.
Born on July 13, 1954, in Troy NY, she was the oldest daughter of William and Cecelia (Snyder) Fluewelling. Her siblings include, William (Bill) Fluewelling (Donna), Shelley Broderick (Bill), Beth Breen (Art), and Suzette Nugent (Fred), along with many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Lansingburgh High School eager to start the next stage in life.
She spent 42 years working at Kmart and retired proudly as a store manager. Barby always enjoyed watching hockey games and spending time with her family in her beautiful Adirondack Cabin.
Wherever she went she made various friendships, including her closest friend of 40 years, Kim "Blakeman" and family, of whom she held dear to her heart. Barby had the ability to reach people in a positive way through her smile, eyes, and her sweet outgoing personality. She will greatly be missed. Forever in our heart, always.
As per Barby's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
