Colonie – Barry T. Berberich, 58, died at St. Peter's Hospital on Friday, May 9, 2014 after a short illness. Born in South Hampton, NY he is the son of the late Virginia A. O'Brien and William M. Berberich.
Barry graduated from Shenendehowa High School, St. Michael's College in VT, and received his M.B.A. from the University at Albany. With over 35 years in healthcare, human services and government, Barry worked every day to improve the lives of others. Most recently Barry was Vice President of Business Development for Noridian Healthcare Solutions. Barry positively influenced others through his work as: Senior Consultant with Optum Government Solutions (formerly Ingenix); Executive Director of Northeastern Assoc. of the Blind; Director, Jewish Guild for the Blind; Director of Long Term Care and then Assistant Commissioner NYS Department of Social Services; Associate Budget Examiner with NYS Division of the Budget and Program Analyst with the Albany County Executive Office.
Barry continued his contributions through volunteering with: Town of Colonie Industrial Development Agency; Lions Club of Albany; Community Reformed Church of Colonie; American Red Cross Blood Services (Donor); Colonie Little League; Capital Youth Hockey; NYS Rehabilitation Assoc.; Caring Together; Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy and United Way of Eastern New York.

The family will be organizing a blood drive through the American Red Cross Blood Services in memory of Barry at a later date.
Barry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Berberich; his sons, Patrick and Garrett both of Baltimore, MD; and his brother, Bruce (Emily) Berberich of Niskayuna. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life for Barry will be held Saturday May 17th at 2:00 p.m. at Community Reformed Church of Colonie, 701 Sand Creek Rd. Colonie, NY 12205. Memorial calling hours for Barry will be held on Friday May 16th from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the church.
