SCHENECTADY – Benjamin W. Billings, 84, of Schenectady, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Ellis Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born in Saratoga Springs and lived in Schenectady for over sixty years. Mr. Billings worked for Maqua Company, retiring in 1972. Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid race car fan and especially loved watching his grandsons race on local tracks. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine M. Billings. Ben is the devoted father of Judy Crandall, Leonard (Sandra) Billings, Sr. and Thomas (Marietta) Billings, all of Schenectady. He was the brother of George and Ken Billings and Eva Weeks. Ben is the cherished grandfather of Shayne Crandall, Shireen Cabral, Rodney Crandall, Crystal Crandall, Bonnie Frazer, Leonard Billings, Jr. and David Billings. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden. Expressions of sympathy may be made at newcomerfamily.com
