ROTTERDAM – Benjamin F. "Frankie G." Gholson, III, entered the Lord's house on December 9, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. "Frankie" was born in Virginia on December 5, 1951 and raised in Virginia. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1970 and then came to New York. He started to work for General Electric Company in 1971 where he worked until his passing. Frankie was an avid member of Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church in Schenectady where he was an usher and a deacon of transportation. He became a deacon in June of 2008. Frankie enjoyed fishing, working in the gardening, tending to his fish aquariums and being with his friends. Frankie enjoyed life. He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Mae and his oldest brother, Rodenna. He leaves behind his beloved wife Mary, whom he married in 1975 and four children; Dorothy of Binghamton, NY and Benjamin, Latricia and Elijah, all of Schenectady. He is the grandfather of Carissa, Jalen, Najaya and Savae. He is the brother of Lawrence and Linwood of Schenectady. Also surviving is his father, two sisters and two brothers. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in Petersburg, VA also survive.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, 809 Strong St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
