Bennie Hampton

ALBANY- Bennie Hampton entered the gates of Heaven on June 2, 2009.
Born July 11, 1920 in Mitchell County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Laura Hampton. He moved to Albany in the late 1940's where he met and married his wife of 44 years, Earnestine Hampton. He was employed at Albany Medical Center and NYS OGS for 35 years and later at A-1 cleaners. Bennie Hampton was a very good person. He enjoyed fishing, and gardening. He was a member of the Arbor Hill Men's Club.
Bennie had 13 brothers and sisters who predeceased him. His heart and love is his sister Mrs. Dollie Brantley of Miami, FL and his favorite niece Mrs. Hazel Bridgeport, CT. He will join his daughters in heaven, Earnestine Hampton-Rivers and Maxine Ford.
Bennie leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Henrietta , Lucinda and Gladys; his sons James and Nathaniel Clark; stepsons Earl Frazier, MacArthur Henderson. He also leaves Marie, Cory and Darrayl and his grandkids that he raised, Laqueita Edge, Cpl Edge Ramell USMC, Gabby Moses, Tia Lane, Randy and Quione Ford. Bennie is also survived by 70 grandkids, 35 great grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews. He is the dear friend of Bennie and Ethel Mackey and Victor and the A-1 cleaner family.
Funeral Friday morning at 11:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. To leave a special message for the family online, visit NewcomerAlbany.com
