COLONIE – Bernard T. "Barney" Davis, 81, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by loving family. He was born in Cape Cod, MA and lived in Pittsfield, MA and Albany for most of his life. Barney was owner and operator of Barney's Speed Shop in Albany for many years. He built racing engines for racing establishments throughout the country. Barney was a race car driver and won Daytona in the mid 1950's. He was an accomplished sailor and designed a ferro-concrete hulled sailboat which he was unable to finish due to his illness. Barney is the beloved husband of 41 years to Helen C. Fisher Davis. He is the devoted father of Glenn Davis of Florida and the late Rainelle Legacy. He is the loving stepfather of Mark "Chainsaw" Fisher. Also surviving are two sisters,five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by two brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
