ALBANY, NY – Bernard J. Schumacher of ALBANY, NY passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009 from a brain tumor, at the age of 56. Bernie was born on January 6, 1953 in Rochester, NY and grew up in Virginia, MN. Bernie earned a B.A. from Holy Cross College, an M.B.A. from George Washington University, a Ph.D. from Pace University and was a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He served as the Associate Dean of the Business and Technology School at Excelsior College. Bernie and his family formerly resided in Middlebury, CT where he was an Assistant Professor of Business at Post University. As an educator, Bernie led a fulfilled and impacting life. His family and friends will remember Bernie's kind heart. Bernie leaves his wife Julie and daughters Jean and Lisa. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Schumacher and his sisters, Carolyn Clark and Susan Schumacher, all of whom reside in Minnesota.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 2nd, at 3:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held in Connecticut on July 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the Middlebury Congregational Church, 1242 Whittemore Rd., Middlebury, CT 06762 followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society, 124 Watertown St., Suite 2D, Watertown, MA 02472 in memory of Bernard J. Schumacher.
