Bernard A. Neadle

March 25, 1930 — March 5, 2022

ALBANY- Bernard A. Neadle, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Facility with his loving family by his side. Bernard was the oldest son of the late Fabian and Cecelia Neadle.

Bernard was born in Rotterdam, NY and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict as a pole lineman in Okinawa. He was married for 58 years to his loving wife, Marilyn, and together they raised seven children. Bernard was a member of the Ironworkers Local 12 and was an exceptional welder. He participated in building many local projects: the South Mall in Albany, O.D. Heck Developmental Center, buildings at G.E. in Schenectady, the Green Island Bridge, the venues for the Olympics in Lake Placid in 1980, and many other structures in the Capital Region.

He used his welding and mechanic skills to help many people with their vehicles, farm equipment and anything broken that he could fix. He loved helping people in need, and gave from what he had to assist his family and friends.

Bernard was a fan of bluegrass music and especially loved Flatt and Scruggs, inspiring him to play his own banjo. He loved to accompany his wife, Marilyn, while she played the piano. Bernard loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who are spread across the country.

In addition to his parents, Bernard is pre-deceased by his wife, Marilyn Neadle; brother, Richard (Judith) Neadle; brother-in-law, Floyd Mickel, and son-in-law, Gary Hayes.

Bernard is survived by his children, Sharon (Ed) Collins of Dunedin, FL; Brenda Hayes of Fort Collins, CO; Beth Ames of Delanson, NY; Anne (Bob) Luttrull of Spokane, WA; Arthur (Leveda) Neadle of Watauga, TX; Laura Neadle of Schenectady, NY; and Cecelia (Steve) Baum of Delanson, NY. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Bernard is also survived by three siblings: Ronald (Lois Hodges) Neadle, NY; Noreen Mickel, NY and Leon (Beverly) Neadle, AZ.

A graveside service at Saratoga National Cemetery will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rehabilitation Support Services at www.rehab.org.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Facility for the extraordinary care they gave Bernard, especially in his final days.
