ALBANY- Bernard J. Tansey, 89, of Albany passed away on Tuesday June 19, 2007 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Bernard and Margaret Walsh Tansey.
Bernard was a WWII Army veteran serving in Northern Africa, Anzio, France and finally assisted in the liberation of Dacau. He worked for forty years with the New York State Court of Appeals. He career included numerous positions, retiring several years ago as the court crier. He was a founding member of the Bucci-McTague American Legion Post and a member of the Ballston Spa Country Club. Bernard was predeceased by his beloved wife Virginia Sullivan Tansey in 1999. He was thrilled to celebrate his granddaughter Jessica's recent graduation, magna cum laude from Boston College.
He is the devoted father of Brian J. Tansey of Guilderland. Cherished grandfather of Brendan and Jessica Tansey. He is the brother of John Tansey of New Jersey, Sr. Marie Bryon CSJ of Latham and the late Frederica Fitzgerald and Francis Tansey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 10:00 at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 pm at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Memorys Garden.
