SCHENECTADY-Bernice M. Winegard, 82 of Schenectady, NY passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. She was born in Hoosick, NY the daughter of the late William and Josephine (Eagle) Miller. Bernice has resided in Schenectady since 1988. Soon after she was married, she moved to Connecticut, where she worked at Sikorsky Aircraft Company, where she assisted in building President Eisenhower's helicopter. She then moved back to Hoosick Falls, where she worked in the garment industry and for Hoosick Falls Rectory as a head cook. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren JP and Jocelyn.
Bernice is the loving mother of Jackie (Jay) Barkenhagen of Schenectady and the beloved grandmother of John Paul (Lieren) Barkenhagen of Arizona and Jocelyn Barkenhagen of Schenectady. Bernice is also survived by her loyal companion Cuddles and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bernice is predeceased by her husband Albert G. Winegard and her sisters Eleanor Walko and Stacia Percy.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, August 19, 2013 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hoosick Falls, NY.
