Bert Neumeister

September 30, 1937 — July 7, 2013

GUILDERLAND-Bert R. Neumeister, 75, of Guilderland, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at home with his family at his side. Bert was a resident of Guilderland since 1998 having relocated from Mamaroneck Village where he and his wife Ginny resided for over 60 years.
He was a graduate of F.E. Bellows High School in Mamaroneck and pursued a career in finance and administration, going to work for the N.Y. Stock Exchange, then to the Bank of New York in Manhattan as Assistant Vice President and retired in 1997 after 44 years on Wall Street, 33 of those with the Bank of New York. Bert also served with the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1964, serving during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He thereafter joined the New York Air National Guard in 1976, receiving his diamond as First Sergeant. Msgt Neumeister was called to active duty as a member of the 137th Airlift Wing out of Stewart ANGB in Newburgh during Operation Desert Shield, and Desert Storm, receiving the Meritorious Service Medal together with many decorations attained during the total service to his country for over 20 years.
Still wanting to share his spirit for life, Bert worked part time at Rite Aid in Colonie for the last 14 years.
Bert was a loving, caring family man who was actively involved in his children's' sports and academics, he was an avid bowler, and loved to fish the waters of Lake George with his wife and children every year from May to October. Bert was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Church, and assisted in the Arts & Environment Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Virginia (Ginny) Neumeister of Guilderland, a son Christopher of Brooklyn Heights, daughter Sharon Neumeister-Sideman of Brookfield, CT; grandchildren Jason and Stefanie Sideman, a twin brother Kurt of New Bern, N. Carolina, and aunt Helen Raiser of Aurora, CO and beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bert was predeceased by his parents Charles and Beatrice (Foss) Neumeister.
Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, NY 12205 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carmen Rd. Schenectady, NY 12303.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Albany Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Bert.
