Bertha Henderson

SCHENECTADY - Bertha Henderson, 80, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Bertha was born on February 3, 1941 in Paterson, NJ and was the daughter of the late Henry and Carrie (Caldwell) Gist. She was raised and educated in South Carolina and then moved to Schenectady where she attended SCCC for psychology. She worked for General Electric for many years as an office worker before retiring. She had a hand in raising her grandchildren, enjoyed being a homemaker, and she was always making sure everyone was ok. She was genuine, sincere, selfless, and had a heart filled with integrity.

Bertha is the mother of Keith (Sabrina) Gist, Ramona Henderson, Audrey Henderson and the late Bonnie Boler and Ricardo Henderson. Cherished grandchildren, Mac Boler Jr., Kareem Boler, Dashawn Tarver, Keith Duran Gist, Ricardo Henderson Jr., Candice Gist, Dashauna Carr, Josh Henderson, Devin Henderson, Chrishauna McFadden, Denaiza Henderson and the late Deidre Boler. Step-mother of Brenda Henderson, Deborah Mills and Patricia Spencer. Also survived by five great grandchildren and her loving cousins, Berdie Gregory, Angela Sanders, Renne Brown and her dear friend, Herbert Smith. She was predeceased by her former husband, Howard Henderson and step-daughters, Dawn Henderson and Lorine Rivers.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, with a calling hour from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment, Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.
