Beryl E. Brooker

COLONIE, NY – Beryl E. Brooker, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at her home, with her husband by her side. She was born in London, England and immigrated to North America in 1957. She moved to Colonie in 1964, and though she was raised in England, she always thought of Colonie as her home. Mrs. Brooker was actively involved as a volunteer for many years at St. Joseph's Home for Boys. She liked making ceramic pieces, traveling and loved all animals, especially dogs. Beryl will fondly be remembered as enjoying life immensely. She is the beloved wife of 65 years to Derek P. Brooker. Beryl is the devoted mother of Raymond Brooker of Auburn, MA and the cherished grandmother of Laura Rossi of Vermont and Tricia Brooker of Massachusetts. She is the loving sister of Arthur, Leslie and Robert Wood and the late Florie Pierce. Also surviving are her very close and dear friends, Eleanor and Tony Solini and Lee and Bob Fredericks.
Funeral services will be Monday at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family wishes that instead of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 or to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Beryl E. Brooker.
