SCHENECTADY – Betty M. Caswell, 74, of Schenectady, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2006 at St. Clare's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Plumville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Irwin and Hanna Jewart Keener. Betty was formerly of Troy, before moving to Schenectady. She retired from Samaritan Hospital as an Operating Room Technician after twenty years. More recently, Betty worked in the Garden Center at the WalMart in Glenville. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and was an avid lover of cats. Betty is the beloved wife of 56 years to Albert E. Caswell. She is the devoted mother of Dennis Caswell, Patti Anderson and Thomas Caswell, Sr. She is the sister of Ruby Elifritz, RoseAnn Bush, Irvin James Keener, Leslie Keener, Thomas Keener and the late Charlotte Stoliker. Betty is the loving grandmother of Ronald A. Anderson, III, Colleen Bowers, Crystal Hall and Thomas Caswell, Jr. She is the great-grandmother of Darshan Williams and Savannah Bowers. She is the loving mother-in-law of Coreen Hall. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and her cherished feline babies, Tom Tom, Rusty Dusty, Wendy and Taffy. Betty's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Critical Care Unit at St. Clare's Hospital for all of the special care and support they gave to Betty during her illness.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 11th at 6:30 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow on Friday, May 12th in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga Cemetery, Schuylerville at a time to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, 53 Maple Ave., Schenectady, NY 12307 in memory of Betty M. Caswell.
